City of Auburn Comprehensive Plan
compplan02.jpgThe Comprehensive Plan, created with the extensive involvement of citizens, business leaders, elected officials and city staff, describes a vision for Auburn’s vibrant and revitalized future – a bustling community that is both environmentally and economically sustainable over the long-term.

The Vision for a Sustainable Auburn is the starting point for planning the city’s future. This short statement, crafted by the comprehensive plan advisory committee and based upon input received at numerous public meetings, pulls together the major components of a thriving Auburn in the 21st century – a city that is attractive to residents, workers and visitors.

The Comprehensive Plan provides guidelines for future development and/or redevelopment of the City of Auburn. Although a reflection of social and economic values, the plan is fundamentally a guide to the physical development of the community. Comprehensive Plans typically encompass all the functions that make a community work, including transportation, housing, land use, utility systems, and recreation. The City of Auburn Comprehensive Plan is a long-range plan. Its purpose is to guide the decisions of the planning and zoning boards, the city council, and the city manager.

The City of Auburn City Council formally adopted "Building a Sustainable Future: The Auburn Comprehensive Plan" on January 21, 2010. The Office of Planning and Economic Development will facilitate the Plan’s implementation in coordination with other departments and organizations, as outlined in the implementation strategy. Each chapeter of the plan is available below or for the complete plan click here (5.2Mb).
