The Auburn Human Rights Commission was established by the City Council in 1964 to encourage and ensure that every individual has an equal opportunity to participate in the economic, cultural, and intellectual life of the community regardless of disability, creed, race, sex, age or national origin. In addition to these formal duties, the Commission sponsors a variety of events and activities including but not limited to, Legal Aid for the Economically Disadvantaged, Food Pantry, Juneteenth Day Celebration, Multi-Cultural Art Classes, Annual Human Rights
Recognition Awards, Education Ad Campaign, a web-site, a lobby display in City Hall, and the Annual Human Rights Scholarship and Reception.
