Sewer/Water Repair Program

Sewer and water service lines periodically require repair or replacement. This program provides the opportunity for residents who choose to repair their sewer or water service line to pay the costs for the repairs on their taxes at a six  percent (6%) annual interest rate over a five-year period. The interest earned from these loans is returned to the account to finance other repairs. For additional information contact Bruce Ross at 315-255-4135 or via email at bross@ci.auburn.ny.us. The various forms required for this repair work are available from the alphabetical City Departments List under the “Downloadable Forms”  or by opening and printing the following links:

The Engineering Department and the Planning Department also coordinate a sewer/ water line repair program for those who qualify according to income. Information about this program can be obtained by calling Jennifer Haines at 315-255-4115 or by email at Jhaines@ci.auburn.ny.us.

FAQs
Q:      Does the City finance new laterals under the program?

A:      The City does not finance new laterals, only repairs. This is because the program was created to benefit not only the homeowner, but the city as well. The homeowner is relieved of the re-occurring nightmare of a backed-up sewer and the city benefits from the removal of groundwater leaking into the sanitary sewer that reduces capacity in the sewer mains, creating further potential for back-ups.
