Thomas McNabb, City Councilor

After working 25 years for the City of Auburn as a safety inspector, Thomas McNabb was not ready to walk away from city government when he retired. Interested in the city's politics, he ran for City Council and was elected in 1995.

His ongoing goals have included not raising taxes, or water and sewer fees, and stopping the deterioration occurring in some neighborhoods.

McNabb views keeping the landfill and increasing its revenue by almost $800,000, settling back sewer charges with outlying towns, finalizing contracts with three of four city departments, the Fort Hill Square Housing project, and the hiring of City Manager John Salomone as successes of the City Council.

In the future, McNabb would like the Council to examine the possibility of consolidating services between the  city and other governments.

When out doing his errands around the city, McNabb gets a great deal of feedback from city residents, a majority happening in the grocery store. He says he enjoys hearing residents' comments, questions, and concerns.

McNabb is a lifelong resident of Auburn. He and his wife Bridget have five children. He can be reached at the Mayor and City Council office at (315) 255-4104.
