Members of the Auburn community spoke before City Council at the March 23, 2017 Council meeting to address cuts that have been proposed by President Trump to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

Following the public testimony the Auburn City Council took immediate action to oppose the proposed cuts.

The President has proposed complete elimination of two federal programs that have long played a vital role within the City of Auburn community, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

On March 16, 2017 President Donald Trump released the Federal Fiscal 2018 proposed budget plan entitled “America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again”. In total the President’s FFY 2018 Budget Plan proposes cuts to 62 federal agencies.

Mayor Quill called for the entire community to rally together and respectfully communicate to our federal elected representatives of the importance of the CDBG and RSVP programs to the residents of the City.  “I urge everyone to write and call our federal officials, they need to hear from you of how important these programs are”, stated the Mayor.
